Of all the videos I have watched, One of the videos I have chosen to explain for this assignment is a short minute and fifteen seconds long video called “Ascension “ that is made in the year 2000 by the artist who is named Bill Viola. After I have watched this video for the first time , it is a video that is non-narrative that it seems to be about a person that it looks like that he has been throwing himself into the water (maybe an ocean or a pool) without moving himself at all or not even trying to lift his own body up to breath. The only thing that person did is that he just let his own body flow up by itself. It is just like a person that is lifeless being drowned in the water. the video is definitely in slow motion and the environment is almost pure dark with a light blue that reflects the water moving with the shape of the person with his arm floating making it like a “T” position (just like a dead person floating in the water alone). By describing how it seems to look in the video, It makes the audience feel a bit uncomfortable by the view of the video and for them it also seems to be a serious or an intense scene that is about a human’s life ending or has ended in the dark without air or it also seems that nothing else matters for that person’s life.
